After much anticipation, we proudly announce the official opening of the new Anne Walker and Taylor Family bowling greens at The Greens – The Entrance. Mingara Leisure Group Chairman, Phil Walker, officially cut the ribbon and announced the new greens open for play.
This long-awaited community sporting facility has been met with much excitement for our members, who have been without their club since March 2020, following the devastating electrical fire that forced the closure of the club and its subsequent demolition.
Mingara Leisure Group, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Grant Gladman, is thankful to the members of The Greens – The Entrance for their resilience, patience and loyalty, as the redevelopment of the club continues.
Mr Gladman said, “The redevelopment project of The Greens has received great support from our members and the local community, and it is a privilege to deliver these two state-of-the-art undercover bowing greens to members as intended as part of our original amalgamation proposal with The Greens.”
“It is exciting to be in a position where we can invite our bowling members back to The Greens to commence play on these new bowling greens whilst we complete construction of the new club house over the next few months. Our members have been incredibly patient as we have navigated this process. The unprecedented times we have all endured over the last 4 years have contributed to longer than expected timeframes to achieve the outcome we see today, so the celebration and our official opening of the new undercover bowling greens is a great news story for the local community, said Mr Gladman.”
The official opening of the bowing greens also honoured locals who have been instrumental in the history of The Greens – The Entrance. The new greens were officially named the “Anne Walker and Taylor Family Greens” in recognition of their significant contribution to the history and now the progress of the club.
